As a former teacher, Joseph understands the importance of genuine caregiving. Originally from Chicago, he considers his teaching years in Chicago’s public schools a valuable life experience, the tenets of which he still embodies today.
Since switching careers from teaching to pet care, he has worked with pets throughout the Portland metro area and continues to further his education in animal handling and behavior training.
Now, he leads the pack at PetSitter Portland, only hiring the best to join his team of pet care professionals. To ensure the highest-quality services, team members must pass certifications and thorough reference/background checks—and be equally paw-sionnate about animals!
Joseph brings a wealth of life experience and a deep passion for animal care to the team. Originally from Southern California, Joseph has lived in New York, Idaho, Colorado, and now proudly calls Oregon home. He is excited to meet your pets and provide them with exceptional care, whether it’s sharing cuddles, scratches, or long walks. His blend of creativity, compassion, and commitment makes him a valued member of the team.
For the past five years, Joseph has cared for two beloved dogs—a Mini Australian Shepherd and a Dachshund—gaining firsthand experience in providing attentive and loving pet care. Beyond his love for animals, he is a talented children’s book illustrator whose work has been internationally published and distributed. In his free time, he enjoys exploring Oregon’s scenic outdoors through hiking, running, and biking, and often captures these adventures through his passion for photography.

Sara was born in Oregon, grew up in Beaverton, and has lived in Portland since moving to the city for college. Throughout her life, she has shared her home with an array of dog companions including pugs, Siberian husky, great pyrenees, beagle, cocker spaniel, and a corgi. Furthermore, she also shared her home with cats, parakeets, rats, gerbils, hamsters, and a turtle. She also enjoys fostering relationships with neighborhood crows and treasures rare encounters with snakes, frogs, and lizards.
Kortnie was born and raised in Oregon, where her love for animals was nurtured from a young age. Growing up in a home with no fewer than ten pets at any given time, she gained extensive hands-on experience in caring for a variety of animals and developed a deep passion for their well-being. One of Kortnie’s proudest accomplishments is rescuing and nursing two sick barn kittens back to health, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to ensuring animals thrive and live fulfilling lives.
By day, Kortnie works as a bank teller, bringing her attention to detail and friendly demeanor to every interaction. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring Oregon’s beautiful outdoors, fishing, and crabbing along the coastline. When she’s not adventuring, you can find her curled up with a good book or listening to country music, embracing both the energetic and peaceful moments of life.

Julia has always been an animal lover and understands the stress or anxiety that goes along with leaving pets in someone else’s care. She’s had dogs and cats her entire life and most recently said goodbye to her last fur baby as he crossed the rainbow bridge. Julia comes to this job to ensure the transition of care while you are away is both seamless and comforting. Julia will truly love on your pets like they were her own family. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, traveling, and making a feeble attempt at growing a home garden.
As a devoted mother to two teenage daughters, Julia has spent the last several years balancing work and family life. Now that she is entering the empty-nest phase, she’s excited to dedicate more of her time to caring for animals. Spending her days with pets brings her joy, and she’s looking forward to building lasting connections with the pets and families she visits.
Paige has been working in pet care for about seven years and truly loves it. She grew up in Eugene, Oregon, and spent 2018–2025 living in Chicago, where she worked as a dog walker/ pet sitter for Urban Tailz pet care company, and was eventually promoted to a management position. Paige has cared for pets of all sizes and personalities, with a special focus on shy and reactive animals.
One of her favorite parts of the job is getting to know each pet’s unique routines and quirks, and building genuine, trusting bonds with them, especially when a shy or nervous pet begins to open up. Paige recently moved back to Oregon to focus on family and education, and she is excited to continue pursuing her passion for caring for animals. She looks forward to meeting you and your pets!
Arnely is originally from Cuba and spent 14 years living in Gran Canaria, Spain, two places she considers her homelands and deeply loves. She moved to the United States nearly three years ago and continues to embrace life in a new country.
Her passion for animals has always been a central part of her life. She has a 12-year-old Chihuahua mix named Negrito, a name inspired by his black coat and a common pet-naming tradition in Spain. Arnely has cared for pets belonging to friends or family over the years, working with dogs of various sizes and enjoying time with animals of all kinds.
While living on the island, Arnely volunteered at a sea turtle rescue center, where she helped care for injured turtles, assisted with feeding, and learned about the rehabilitation process before they returned to the ocean. In Portland, she also enjoys spending time at a friend’s local farm, helping feed and care for five horses and simply enjoying their companionship.

Olivia is a lifelong Oregonian and animal lover, and a self-proclaimed dog person who also adores her cat, Gnocchi. She grew up in a home with yellow Labs, mini Labradoodles, and a Havanese, where she learned early the importance of routine, patience, and individualized care for pets of all ages and temperaments. Today, Olivia cares for every animal as if they were her own.
She has experience working with everything from energetic puppies and kittens to senior pets who need extra TLC, including extended stays through TrustedHousesitters, caring for large dogs and multi-pet households. Olivia is attentive to details such as feeding routines, medications, enrichment, and keeping pet parents updated with thoughtful visit notes.
A graduate of Oregon Tech with a degree in Biology, Olivia is currently pursuing occupational therapy studies. Her background has strengthened her skills in observation, responsibility, and adapting care to individual needs. When she’s not caring for pets, Olivia enjoys staying active through running, rock climbing, pickleball, thrifting around Portland, reading, and watching professional baseball.
Grace has spent much of her life caring for and learning about animals, and her passion for them shines through in everything she does. From caring for family pets to volunteering at Oregon Dog Rescue, she’s always been drawn to understanding and helping animals. Grace earned her degree in Animal Behavior and Biology, gaining hands-on experience as a volunteer dog trainer, raptor trainer, wildlife rehabilitation assistant, and veterinary assistant.
Since graduating, Grace has pursued a career in wildlife biology and recently completed a field season as a Conservation Detection Dog Handler. Alongside her professional experience, she has spent years caring for the pets of friends and family, helping with everything from training and behavior questions to specialized care for pets with medical needs. Grace is especially skilled with reactive or high-drive dogs and has experience working with and training puppies.
An avid hiker and backpacker, Grace loves spending time outdoors and knows the joy of exploring nature with a furry companion by her side. Whether you’re looking for someone to give your pet extra love and attention or to handle more specialized care, Grace brings a unique blend of expertise, compassion, and dedication to every animal she meets.
Grace has been surrounded by dogs her whole life and can’t imagine it any other way. She spent three years working at a local kennel, Nature’s Acres, developing skills to further her career. Following that experience, she volunteered three months at a dog sanctuary in Peru, which she cherishes till this day. Over the past few years, she has traveled internationally, and wherever she goes, caring for animals has always been part of the itinerary.
Currently, Grace is a junior at Portland State University, studying biology with aspirations to be a paleontologist. Grace has two dogs of her own, raising them since puppies. In fact, Grace was born in Oregon so she knows all the best trails or parks for pets. Whenever she has leisure moments, it’s out hiking, camping, and walking with her two dogs. Grace is ready to welcome more amazing pets into her life.
